In the workshop 12 kits will be available for the participants: Each kit contains among others: Plastic pipettes, a 2-ml ampoule (for a burner), a low 5-ml ampoule (for extinguishing and testing the products of burning) and some high 5-ml ampoules all with stoppers (for volumetric gas experiments). The stopper of an infusion bottle is to be used as a stable stand for the burner that will be stored in a tight film canister. Program
0. Get familiar with the materials and their use: 0.1 TetraPaks to store, to protect, to collect. 0.2 plastic pipettes, 1.3 injection bottles (ampoules), 0.4 syringes and scales for gas reactions. 0.5 Ampoule burner, testing the gases.
1.
Volumetric hydrogen generation by calcium [ Ca + 2 H2O --> H2 + Ca(OH)2]22222 40 mg Ca release 24 ml H2 (room temperature)
2.
Comparing calcium carbide concentrations. [CaC2 + 2 H2O --> C2H2 + Ca(OH)2] 64 mg CaC2 release 24 ml C2H2 (room temp.) 4. 3. Pipette Eudiometer: Volumetric reaction of oxyhydrogen gas.  
4. Volumetric CO2 generation from baking soda (Kaiser Natron)
