The idea of microscale chemistry experimentation using vials, dropper bottles and syringes goes back to Dr. M. K. El-Marsafy:

Thirty years ago he introduced these worldwide available materials for pre-service teacher training and education at  Ain Shams University Cairo. Thousands of young Egyptian students learned how to teach chemistry starting by practical work.

Advantages of Microscale Chemistry Experimentation:

1. less chemicals, 2. less waste, 3. less space, 4. more safety, 5. less costs, 6. materials easy to find, 7. working at home, 8. own portable low-cost lab for school preparation.

Cost-Effective Educational Appliances (1989)

1. Vials: Drying up liquids by an electric hot plate
 2. Vials: Generating and collecting NO2
 3. Vials: Microscale safe spirit burner heating
 4. Vials for distillation
 5. Microscale syringe titration
 6. Syringes as microscale measuring cylinders: Density/volume
 7. Two-pan balance to measure the mass for density
 8. A convertor to charge a model car battery
 9. Electric multimeter: Discharging model car battery
10. Beads as models for atoms, molecules and ions

Microscale halogen chemistry experiments (1999)
Microscale chemistry experiments on alcohols (1999)
Modelling molecules and radicals (1999)
Accuracy of gravimetric and volumetric analysis (2000)
Powerpoint Presentations / Charts (2001 - 2008)
