Left: 3 models of
the alcohol ethanol: 2 bead models compared to a "table tennis models".
Right: 3 models of
the aldehyde ethanal.
The macroscale "table tennis
models" are very useful for demonstration in the school.

The microscale models you
can do yourself and keep them.
Left: Model of ethanol
by welding plastic beads (from toy shops).
Photo 2: Model of
ethanol made of glass beads by wire. Photo 3 and rechts: Bead models
of the aldehyde.
The
welded model of ethanal (right) has an important advantage:
You can show that there
are two different bondings between C atom (black bead) and O-Atom (red
bead). The sigma bonding is represented by the welding contact, the yellow
wire is a model for the pi bonding.
