salt06 Test for sulfate ions in solutions sulfuric acid and its salts

You have made sulfate ions by mixing conc sulfuric acid and water. Sulfate ions you will meet again during your experiments with the car battery.
Barium chloride solution is a reagent for sulfate ions.
* Put drops of the following solutions on a plastic surface:  Sulfuric acid [H2SO4(aq)], sodium sulfate [Na2SO4(aq)],  zinc sulfate [ZnSO4(aq)],   copper(II) sulfate [CuSO4(aq)].
* Add a drop of transparent barium chloride solution to each of these drops.
Observation (Photo):Each time the transparent liquids react forming a white solid
Explanation: Each time a white solid ofof barium sulfate [BaSO4(s)] is formed by the barium ions of the reagent [(Ba2+(aq) ] and the sulfate ions [SO42-(aq) ] of the solutions to be tested.
